Love is love

What does it mean? What does love mean? According to the Collins dictionary, the definition of love is “a strong feeling of affection”. In addition, the definition of family is “a group consisting of two parents and their children living together as a unit”. Well, in my opinion, the second definition is not always true.

“A strong feeling of affection” can mean people who love other people, people who love themselves, people who love their dog, their cat or their teddy bear. All these examples are kinds of love, for me. Nowadays, in the whole world you can find a person who takes care of his pet and, for its part, a pet who purrs to its person; you can find also a person who takes care of another person for the rest of their life, without asking for anything in return, just loving, respecting and being loyal; you can find a mother who loves her kids or a child who loves her teddy bear. Every kind of love exists, every kind of love is real, every kind of love is love. And for those reasons, there will not ever be one love more valuable than another one. Anyone who loves can be a person who loves, does not matter if the object of somebody’s affection could be a person of the same sex, a member of the opposite sex, a son, a daughter, a mom, a dad, a granny, a friend, a pet or oneself. Consequently, a family could not necessarily have to be a group consisting of two parents and their children, but it could be made up of only one person or two people of the same sex and so on. All these people represent a kind of love and all these people are a kind of family. Always according to Collins dictionary, the definition of marriage is “the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship (historically and in some jurisdictions specifically a union between a man and a woman)”. So, if the marriage is the formal recognition of a family, and a family is peoples who love, why are still their rules for love, in the world?

Of course, it is not easy as it is, all over the world we still have conservatism, homophobia, ignorance and so on. We can only have hope in the future and in the fact that things are changing in front of our eyes, carefully and slowly. But it is not enough.
